Spider Crawl

The heat has finally broken and I can actually see why people live in the state of Texas.  We enjoy mornings in the 70s and afternoons in the 90s- WHAT A RELIEF!!!

With the cooler weather it's actually possible to relax outside and we're loving riding bikes, walks, park adventures, flying kites, and just hanging out in the back yard.

I was hoping Delia would start walking before the mild weather arrived, but, alas, we still have a crawler.  She's had lots of major falls while attempting to walk, so for now, she's decided crawling is much more comfortable.

This presents problems at the park and on cement.  But, I'm learning to loosen up about bloody knees and stained clothes- as long as Delia is happy and safe... AND not TOO filthy...

Here's her cute little "protect the knees" crawling technique:

It's Hot Outside

Yep.  Texas is hot.  Very, very hot.  And humid.

Even though it's sweltering outside, there's still fun to be had (I'm trying to be positive here).  If we can get out before 9am it's relatively cool ("cool" around here is high 80s- but don't forget the humidity which makes it feel like high 90s) so we try to make it to the park or ride bikes.  You can usually find us across the street in our neighbor's pool in the afternoon.  By the time we get home, bathe, and eat, we've all exhausted our energy for the day and just relax until bedtime.

My heart condition is much more serious in this weather (I'm not really sure why). I have to battle through constant headaches and super low energy. But, as long as I drink lots, and lots, and lots of fluids and keep up on my medication it's more bearable.

We spent the 4th of July at a friend's beautiful house and pool.  Their daughter captured this sweet picture of Ivy and her freckles.

The kiddos are becoming expert swimmers.  Ivy has even learned to swim without her floaties.

Ivy sneezed the other day and proclaimed "Mom!  I just bless you'd!"

Bryan takes the kids fishing on Saturdays.  I love the peace and quiet, and they love daddy time!

Ivy was too frightened to reel the fish in all the way.  Here's the video:

Welcome Summer

We had a crazy warm spell with temps in the 80s and 90s a few weeks ago. It was the best "summer" ever because it only lasted a week! Not that I don't love lots of things about summer in Virginia, it just goes on and on and on....

Here's some of my favorite things about the Season:

Long walks in the woods

Popsicles

Swimsuits and sprinklers
Ity-bitty sundresses
Sunhats and ice cream
Sweet, sweet freckles
And last but not least- a little streaker in the back yard.
Ivy has decided when the weather is warmer than 75 degrees, clothes are unnecessary. Her exact quote is, "I be naked!"
