Autumn Time

Even though it still feels pretty Summery here, I still can't help eagerly decorating and celebrating the actual season.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Autumn!

When the calendar FINALLY reads "Autumn Equinox" we dig out the dusty boxes and explore their contents, discovering so many fun decorations, games, and costumes- completely forgotten all winter, spring, and summer.

Some of my favorite surprises are the fall-themed books we stow-away all year.

Here's some of our favorites:

This is better for older kids (6 and up)

Also 6 and up

A little scary

Beautifully explains why we celebrate Thanksgiving

Our Little Author

A few years ago my darling niece Ella created this beautiful book:

Don't you love the fancy T?

The kids love to read it and talk about how much they miss their cousins and can't wait to see them.

Every time we got it out Hyrum would exclaim he wanted to make a book too.  Unfortunately his attention span wasn't quite strong enough for a whole book- until now....

AND so, without further ado, I present Hyrum's debut novel:

"Once Luke was with Leah they were on Endor."

"When Luke and Han Solo had found Leah Luke left."

"Luke went to the Death Star Luke was fighting Darth Vader the Emperor shocked Luke."

"Darth Vader picked up the Emperor and threw him in a hole Darth Vader died."

"Luke put Darth Vader in a fire."

"But they had a celebration"

I love the quick conclusion, no need to drag it out!

Hunger Games Update

Just FYI:  Didn't like Hunger Games.  In fact, hated it.  Too violent, gory, and depressing.  Wish I didn't spend hours and hours of my precious time waiting for it to get better.  Wish I just shut the last book and threw it in the garbage.  Bummer.

Books, Books, Books

In our home we love, love, love books.  Whether it's too cold, too rainy, or too hot to play outside, it's so nice to spend the day reading and laughing together.

Here's only a few of our favorites:
(I've only included the books I don't mind reading again, and again, and again...)

In a world where quality is being replaced by quick, cheap, and cut-rate, it's such fun to be blown away at the beautiful, heartfelt, insightful, witty, and just plain delightful creations these artists invent for children.
